Hermann Hagspiel first came across quality assurance issues in the early 1990ies. At that time he took part in efforts of the Export Promotion Service of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber to introduce an ISO 9000 certification. His repeated organisation of study missions by leading Austrian manufactures to Japan in order to visit research institutes and landmark industries in the field of quality policy deepened his knowledge but also his esteem for the high benchmarks applied in Fareast to quality in both production and service industries. The acquired know-how Hermann Hagspiel could eventually invest in the design of a fully transparent cross-company quality certification scheme for the food sector – under the label gut so! – covering all stages of production from animal feed to ready-to-eat consumer products.
